Our structure has been designed to allow three different paths
This path is for employees who wish to grow within their respective fields, without taking on a management or a technical leadership role. As the employee moves up the individual path, he/she gains knowledge and expertise within his/her field of work, but is not required to manage employees or provide technical leadership. Programmers, Artists, Animators, Game/Level Designers and Production Managers are examples of roles that would fall under the individual path.
This path is for employees who wish to take on a leadership role with managerial responsibilities. A Manager is responsible for planning and directing the work of a group of individuals, monitoring their work, and taking corrective action when necessary. Team Leads, Directors, and Producers are examples of roles that would fall under the management path.
Subject Matter Expert Path
This path is for employees who wish to take on a leadership role through his/her technical expertise. A Subject Matter Expert is an individual who understands a business process or area well enough to answer questions from people in other groups who are trying to help. SMEs may review, improve, and approve technical work; guide others; and mentor/teach. Technical Leads, Technical Directors and Creative Directors are examples of roles that would fall under the SME path.
